Etretat – Disney World for Art Lovers

Without any hesitation, I would say that the highlight of my stay in France was our adventure-filled road-trip to Étretat. It was during the transport strike, so we decided to rent a car and head up north to Normandy.

Lapine’s Paris Adventure

I have always loved the intricate art of folding origami, especially rabbits. The folding process forces me to be still, focus intensely and be completely in the moment. I find it both soothing and therapeutic.

Newsletter 4 – New Year

Wishing for 20/20 Vision in 2020!

Good morning everyone! I am writing this very first newsletter of the year, while I am quite unenthusiastically getting ready to pack to go back home. It really is a bitter sweet feeling, because Paris has been sooooo amazing, and the people really welcoming. This experience has truly been a milestone in my career and reaffirmed my commitment to my new life as a professional artist. I am however very excited and inspired to get back home, realising my new ideas for the next artworks and seeing old friends and loved ones (and my bath, yes definitely my bath) .

Intertwined

I am so happy to introduce my new series to you: “Intertwined”. I have been pondering this for a long time coming, and it finally started coming to fruition during my recent stay in Paris.

Intertwined

Throughout my life I have been in constant awe and wonder of the beauty and profound complexity of nature around me. The main focus of my work is an awareness of the emotions which nature gives me, while evoking a deeper relationship to ourselves and our surroundings. As inhabitants of this planet we do not only draw energy from our surroundings, but  also inspiration.

Tell me a story

Art collecting has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I buy art to tell my story. A secret diary as a witness to my life, if you will. Through each work I collect, I am reminded of different moments of pain or ecstasy in my life. Special memories or special people. Warnings or life savers. Some pieces soothes my soul, while others disturb it, but both give me immense pleasure at every glance, and endless hours of interesting conversations among friends. It doesn’t have to be overly expensive, but it has to speak to your heart.

Paris is Always a Good Idea

So, it happened!!! My very first Art Exhibition ever! And the cherry on top was that it took place in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, my beloved Paris!! The centre of art, architecture and beauty.

It’s the most wonderful time of the Year!

Christmas is not Christmas until you have spend Christmas in Europe! Very biased, I know, but Paris is quite wonderful during the festive season. Christmas officially began in Paris on the 15th of November this year, when everything magically transformed overnight into an enchanted wonderland, as if being touched by a fairy wand.

An Accidental Artist

I still need to pinch myself sometimes when someone asks me what I do, and I say that I am an Artist. A real one. I am amazed on a daily basis when I realize how lucky I am to finally be doing my art full time. After an almost 20 years hiatus from art (after being a graphic designer), I could not deny this urge to express myself through my art anymore, so I left the business world by taking a very risky leap of faith, and here I am. Sitting at a café in Paris, doing my art. Amazing

Take me to Church

What an incredible experience to watch master print-maker Collin Cole at work during my recent Intaglio Printmaking Course at the Blue Door Print Studio. First of all, I have never seen a more beautiful studio in my life! I mean, how cool is it to have a 1904 pink church building with a blue door for a printing studio? It is also the cleanest printing shop I have ever experienced. Immaculate.

My Studio

Any artist’s dream is to have a nice studio. Well, mine doesn’t have a beachfront view, but other than that, I am very blessed and happy with the space I have. Here I can create, ideate and procrastinate to my heart’s desire! I thought it might be...

Why don’t pigs fly?

“Why don’t Pigs fly” is just a quirky little series I’m working on, in between two other big projects. Mostly for my own amusement, and I have to say, I truly enjoy it!. I will post updates regularly on social media, as I progress in completing all six of them.

Misplaced Bunnies Series

Hi everybody, I know you have been waiting a while, but I am finally ready to reveal the “Misplaced Bunnies” series I have been working on. I so enjoyed developing this series and it is very special to me for various reasons. One being that it is my very...

What do you see?

As an artist, you are required to look at things a little differently, a little deeper. Paint that emotion behind the eyes, capture the magic that isn’t visible on the surface.

Time cannot erase

Do you know how much pain you carry inside of you? Can you name it, or does it just drift around in a muddy sea of confusion and grief?
We mostly mask out our pain, ignoring it –
